OUR PASTOR

Guy has an unusual, varied and ecumenical background. He was a Member of the NSW Parliament, a Public Relations consultant and CEO of Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation. Since the 1990’s he has had an association with the Jesuits at Pymble and in 2000 lived in a Jesuit community in USA where he studied spiritual direction to help people pray and meditate.

“I had been through a ‘dark night of the soul’ experience when I left Parliament, a sense of God abandoning me, and grave doubt about whether God really exists. Through what I can only describe as a mystical experience of God’s love and grace in Jesus, I entered into a re-newed and deeper faith which thrives rather than diminishes in the midst of doubt and paradox. Subsequently I studied part time in theology at the NSW Baptist College and developed a growing interest in spirituality and prayer. Ultimately this led to doing the 30 day silent retreat and training, followed by a Master’s degree in Christian Spirituality through the Catholic Institute of Christian Spirituality in Sydney. These experiences have led me to my vocation as a pastor and spiritual director.”

Guy is married to Sandra, an early childhood educator and graduate of Sydney Missionary Bible College. They have twin children.
