Which of the pictures above better represents how you feel about your life? When God made men, he had the first rather than the second image in mind! Many men bluff their way through life with an exterior and interior disconnect. We have traded our true for false selves, thinking that will bring us happiness, comfort and security. Often we have become people we don’t much like or respect, while putting on a convincing show on the outside has led to stress, brittleness, cynicism or dryness of soul. If you’ve had enough of living like a mouse on a treadmill and want to discover your God-given manhood, who you are at the deepest level, then come to this course on Male Spirituality. It starts with the story of five very different men: a former Ulster Protestant terrorist and convicted criminal in his late 30s; a producer of porn movies in his late 20s; an author and cynical atheist in his 60s; a successful businessman and ‘Cassanova’ in his 30s; and a searcher after truth in his 30s who has dabbled in Buddhism. They spend 40 days in a monastery in England. Gradually their lives are turned upside down as their false selves are challenged and they open to their true selves, locked deep within. A fascinating and provocative DVD which we’ll take time to respond to over coffee and dinner.
